 Waterloo  - But Not As we Know It!

 

In 2015 I was lucky enough to get to play in one of the Waterloo games for the 200th anniversary. This one was put on by the chaps from the League of Augsburg Forum, in place of one of the typical 1690s themed weekends. The scale of the game was impressive; 160 square feet of meticulously created terrain and almost 8,000 28mm figures to represent the combatants at a scale of 1:20.


On the day I was representing General Maitland commanding the British Guard brigade at the far right hand end of the allied line. Unlike the events of the real battle, Napoleon decided that taking Hougomont itself was not going to have the same priority. The attacks on the centre right of Wellingtons line were to be the diversion but no serious attempt was made to force the allied garrison out of this advanced post.




This did mean that the French 6th. Division (?)
